Dr. Nojoke – AI // Clikno – CLIKNO MAT02

AI. The second output in the MAT editions series on CLIKNO is a bass-heavy affair over four sides separated into the EPs ‘Anonymity’ and ‘Intimacy’, together just “AI”.
The digital world and social media in particular are changing our perceptions and behaviour; our values and morals are undergoing a transformation and shift.

To what extent are we still anonymous? How much are we still intimate (with ourselves/with others)? What does anonymity and intimacy mean to us today?

MUSIC – Dr. Nojoke shows his deeper, darker, bassier and trippier side on AI.

A – The first track Petar Plet Plete is based on a Bulgarian tongue twister. The chant hypnotises with its layers and endless repetitions over a straight Maurizio-esque groove with melodic percussion in odd time signature.

Nivin on the flipside grooves elegantly with typical Dr.Nojoke clicks and sophisticated loops of a mysterious female voice whose melody is slightly reminiscent of Kraftwerk’s Man Machine era.

I – The second EP presents the two leftfield oriented tracks EOW and Nuknot. Both are intimate orgies with thick textures of reverberations and reflections, as if space is folding in on itself and time is on hold.

EOW seduces with a heavy kick drum groove and a triplet bass line underneath, crawling through drones of unconscious memories. Woe!
Nuknot is carried by eternal atmospheres, a low end bassline and a repetitious glassy clang, that can drive a crowd into madness – inspired by Moritz von Oswald and Deadbeat.

ART – CLIKNO curates artworks from living artists. For MAT ed.02 we are proud to present digital artist Lucas Gutierrez and his work ìYour Mesh.sglî, originally part of the exhibition ? Knowledge Of ? at Aperto Raum Berlin, 2017.
An exhibition and dialogue exploring the term ìknowledgeî and the manner in which self-studies are structured within contemporary artistic approach.
Lucas works together with Robert Lippok and has created the animated world for the CTM berlin in 2022.

TEXT – MAT02 comes with two thoughtful poems to anonymity and intimacy from the Danish philosopher, actress and choreographer Marianne Kjaer Klausen.
