The long-awaited 2026 repress of Ricardo Villalobos’ Baby EP returns to raum…musik, presented in a new metallic green raum…musik label cover. Originally released in 2012, it marked Villalobos’ first solo single on the label under the Villalobos moniker, bringing together two tonally and energetically distinct cuts of dancefloor minimalism.

From the slightly euphoric and light-hearted atmosphere of ‘hansup’ to the emotionally charged groove of ‘Baby’, the EP moves through intricately layered micro and macro percussion, carefully programmed synths and Villalobos’ own vocals spread across the frequency spectrum, adding a human touch to his characteristic machine funk.

While rhythm remains at the center, both tracks gradually resolve into a distinctly jazzy melancholy. Fourteen years after its original release, Baby EP retains the detailed, unconventional character that makes it unmistakably Villalobos.
