Description
Philipp Priebe – The Clouds All Form A Geometric Shape // Stólar – STÓ001
Five years after his debut The Being Of The Beautiful on ILYA, which was recommended “for every shelf” by Das Filter, Philipp Priebe inaugurates his own imprint STÓLAR. The label opens with an EP that acts as a prequel of sorts to his debut album, setting the conceptual and sonic foundation for what follows.
The title track, The Clouds All Form A Geometric Shape, leads the release, fusing dusty drum sounds, a funk-infused bassline, and hazy, ethereal pads. Gradually, the composition unfolds into an amalgamation of resonant acid-tinged flutters, metallic chimes, wind instruments, and a baroque dynamism within the rhythmic structure.
On the B-side, St. Peters shifts the focus toward crunchy, swinging drums, choppy bass stabs, and intricately evolving resonant synth lines. An enchanting organ motif enters midway, carrying the groove through the remainder of the track. The EP closes with a remix of St. Peters by Kim Brown, who reinterpret the original by pushing the rhythmic elements forward and introducing a playful, acid-tinged bass hook that ebbs and flows around the track’s cinematic core.
