Selekt Wax returns with its second vinyl offering, shifting the focus from introspection toward motion. Where its predecessor explored stillness and space, Varginha 96 moves into a more rhythmic, fluid and tactile energy.
Loopedeville works within a minimal framework, pushing it toward something animated and groove-led. Detail reveals itself gradually, while the record remains playful, controlled and built for movement.
Inspired by the 1996 Varginha incident in Brazil, the release carries a subtle sense of the otherworldly through texture rather than literal reference: unfamiliar tones, off-centre moments and elements that feel just out of reach.
“Varginha 96” opens with a breakbeat-driven groove centred around a looping vocal from the Varginha ’96 incident, surrounded by off-kilter synth textures. Ohm Hourani’s remix strips the track back into a hypnotic, late-hours version, keeping the vocal at its core while focusing on repetition and feel.
On the B-side, “Thunders In Paradise” delivers a driving groove built from dusty drums, steady pulse and understated detail. “Never Enough” closes the EP with a fluid late-night swing, warm tones and an easy bounce that carries through.
