With The Window Upstairs, Berlin-based Christoph Faust presents a four-track EP exploring different shades of House, moving between Tech House, Minimal, Deep House and Chicago influences.
“Keep It Up” opens with a bouncing, groove-led Tech House cut, shaped by playful sound design and subtle vocal elements. Rising pads add tension before resolving into more stripped-back, floor-focused passages.
The title track, “The Window Upstairs”, shifts into a deeper space, balancing Dub Techno textures with House structures. Soft, washed-out synths and background snare rolls create a warm, spacious atmosphere, forming the emotional centre of the EP.
“Don’t Stop” introduces a more minimal, tribal-leaning approach. Detailed percussion and gentle pad movements sit within a laid-back groove, unfolding gradually while maintaining a steady pull.
On the B-side, BLANKA reworks “Don’t Stop” into a dub-influenced Tech House version, adding weight and drive while preserving the track’s restrained character.
“A Voicemail” closes the EP with a reduced Dub House piece built around fragmented vocals and a recorded message. Textural, slightly dissonant and understated, it brings the record to a quiet, reflective end.
